Camera drones

These drones are great drones for aerial videography and photographing.

They have stable video gimbals, wonderful cameras, and advanced features that make aerial videography much easier.

1. The dji phantom 3 advanced

DJI has quickly become one of the industry’s top drone manufacturers. Why? Because they consistently create high quality drones that professionals and amateurs alike are loving.

The DJI Phantom 3 Advanced is one of several models in the Phantom  line. (The others include:  Standard, 4K, Professional, and Phantom 4.)

The Phantom 3 Advanced can shoot 2.7k video and can take 12 megapixel photos. It has live FPV (first person view) streaming directly to the controller and has a 23-minute flight time (quite a plus). DJI’s mobile app allows you to control the camera and change settings straight from your mobile device.

TIP: Although 23 minutes sounds like a long flight time, you will most likely want extra batteries as you will almost definitely want more time in the air.

The Phantom 3 Standard is the lower level model. It has a slightly longer flight time of 25 minutes, but control distance is maxed at 1,000m (while the  Advanced has 5km).

The Phantom 4K is the next model up. It offers an 4K video capture and 25 minutes of flight time. Control distance is maxed at 1200m.

Finally, the Phantom 3 Professional takes 4K video, 23 minutes of flight, and a 5km control distance. This is the second highest level version.

DJI also recently released the Phantom 4, an upgraded version of the Phantom 3 series with an obstacle avoidance system.

All versions are incredible machines and they’re ranked #1 in this list of drones, but the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced has the best of all fields, making it a great camera drone for both recreational and commercial pilots.

5. Syma X8C Venture

Sometimes, it can be tough to find quality consumer camera drones for sale. The camera is either sub-par or the drone itself doesn’t fly well.

These issues are gone with the Syma X8C Venture. Much like the Syma X8G, this UAV sports a DJI Phantom-esque frame and design. This gives it quality handling and flight capability.

It offers a 2MP HD built-in camera to let you take aerial photos and videos.

Most notably, the Syma X8C Venture is equipped with an Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC) system. Usually, the forward direction of a multirotor is the same as the front of the quad.

By using IOC, the forward direction has nothing to do with the front (nose) of the drone. This helps new pilots learn to control the quadcopter more easily, and it helps aerial photographers get the shot they want without getting confused about directional controls.

If you’re looking for an RC drone with a camera for under $100, the Syma X8C Venture is a great start.

professional drones

These drones are for professionals who use their drones for commercial videography.

They have the best features that enable you to capture incredible footage.

6. DJI Inspire 1 Version 2.0

The DJI Inspire 1 is one of the most powerful drones on the market.
To begin with, DJI upgraded the Inspire’s motors from from 350kv to 420kv to make them more powerful. They also modified how each propeller attaches and thereby reducing wear and helping them last longer.

The carbon fiber arms raise above the camera and body while in flight, giving an unobstructed 360-degree view of the area in which you are filming.

The Inspire’s built-in camera is able to shoot 4K video and capture 12 megapixel photos. The gimbal and camera system detaches from the body to allow for easy storage and the ability to upgrade. You can also change out the cameras for different filming occasions, giving a much broader range of environments in which to record.

The DJI Inspire has real-time camera feed sent to your mobile device for first-person-view (FPV). The fully-featured app gives you manual camera control capability, flight telemetry data (battery life, altitude, etc), and auto takeoff and landing capability.

The inspire has added the ability to know how long the battery will remain in addition to the percentage.

The drone’s software also takes into account the distance from the controller to determine how long it would take to return home. This helps you stay safe by not running out of battery power mid-flight, and gives you an idea of how much time you have to complete a shot before the battery will die.

Another great feature is dual remote capability. The DJI Inspire 1 offers dual-operator control. This allows you to control the quadcopter with two transmitters and two pilots. One person can focus on flight control and the other control the camera to get the perfect shot.

The controller itself is DJI’s most advanced transmitter. It features dedicated buttons for video and photo capture, a gimbal control dial, and a rechargeable battery.

Finally, the DJI Inspire 1 V2.0 (and DJI Phantom 3 models) offers 5 intelligent flight modes:

Follow Me: It will automatically keep you in the camera’s view wherever you go.
Point of Interest: The drone automatically revolves around a designated object, person, or place in a perfect circle.
Waypoints: Allows you to record a flight path then tell your Phantom 3 or Inspire 1 to fly along the same path repeatedly, while you control the camera and orientation. You can save your favorite missions, customize speed, and more.
Course Lock: Easily fly along a set path.
Home Lock: Customize your flight controls to be relative to you at all times. Flick a switch, and forward/backward and left/right flight will be set in relation to the Home Point.
